As we celebrated Courtney's 21st birthday at Bahama Breeze in Lake Buena Vista last night, the thought struck me that, here we were, in subtropical Florida, while 16 hours ahead of us on the other side of the world in subarctic Russia, someone else dear to us is contemplating a very different day.
