FLUID DYNAMICS

These two ponds on the edge of the park adjacent to our subdivision are shown in a current aerial image, and also in snaps I grabbed yesterday from my bike.
During dry years, there's a land bridge between the two, and during periods of heavy rainfall, the larger pond will always flow into the smaller (bottom photo)

The smaller, much deeper one, may also have a jeep-type vehicle in the bottom. We only saw it floating upside down in the pond after it went off the "dune-buggy" path when the water was low, though we never knew if it was retrieved. Rumor has it one could comfortably swim in the large pond with its clear, sandy bottom---just saying :)

From what I remember we used to walk across the larger pond when it dried out. The pond on the left was one of the crystal clear sinkholes. We actually set up a diving board one summer on the steep banks. And, there were divers in it one time with one of the portable air compressors floating on the surface. The lake to the west of these two had a trail around it. We helped some people who had a truck stuck, and they let us take turns riding on an inflatable raft that was pulled by a ski rope. You had to keep leaning toward the water or you'd bottom out and do a couple of flips.
