HORSE'S ASS

When I posed under this statue on the grounds of the State Capital of South Carolina in Columbia as a 19 year old U.S. Army private, I had no idea (nor did I care) who was astride the mount.
Later, I learned that the statue, erected in 1906, honored Wade Hampton III...

...and at that point I also learned that there were two horse's asses atop that granite block =:o)
