Above, a jeweler/watchmaker shop in Shrewsbury, UK, in 1888 (original b&w and colorized versions).
At the time, men's wristwatches had not been produced - war would shortly change all that.

A few notes:
The sign at the top of the colorized photo would indicate that this was also a shop that made eyeglasses.
My $23 digital Casio Forester watch probably keeps better time than anything in that shop.
