I was photographing these Sandhills through the patio door glass as Patti fed them on New Year's Day, and a closeup head shot revealed to me for the first time that what I thought were red feathers was actually pigmented skin...

The stork in the first photo has red hair, but you are right, the second has red-pigmented skin :)
Just to clarify for any FWC officers...Patti is filling the bird feeder for smaller birds. It was just an astounding coincidence that the Sandhill Cranes were there at the same time!
