The photo was taken in Deland at a house we rented in the early 1950's (so my mom would also be in her early 50's). The mower is electric - quite a novelty from the reel mower we were used to in Ohio...

I was going to ask about the mower - I see the cord now. Quiet, but you're always fighting the cord...
Why weren't you or Peter mowing?
I don't recall ever seeing my mom behind a mower - this is probably a staged picture. No doubt Pete and I ended up mowing (after we did our homework and made dinner...)
And you had to mow uphill both ways
and barefoot standing on sand spurs. :)
