LOW WATER

Standard vertical water wheels are moved by water flowing under (as in the UK mill-top photo) or via an overhead sluice (like the mill at Cade's Cove).
For low water levels, though, a horizontal wheel can solve the problem. We spotted this old water wheel at the South Carolina State Museum...
