I gave our 45-year-old front door and it's 75-year old Schlade lock a little DIY this week. The door received a fresh coat of paint, and the lock - which had a "rich patina" (dirt) was brought close to it's original luster on a lathe's buffing wheel, then coated with a satin finish. .
