...a couple of images I ran across this week that I thought were pretty neat:
The top photo, taken from the ISS on April 2nd, shows the aurora borealis - northern lights - right above the blue airglow at the Earth's cusp. The moon is in the image, along with Russia's capital, Moscow (the big spiderweb one). Between Moscow and the moon, St. Petersburg...and to the left of that is Finland's capital, Helsinki.
The bottom image charts the flight path of a NOAA hurricane hunter out of McDill AFB, going over hurricane Arthur when it was off Florida's east coast. What's neat above this image is that it also shows all commercial flights over Florida at the time.
