Earlier this year, we spotted these whistling ducks* on a wildlife feeder webcam in Refugio, Texas. Prior to that, we only became familiar with this species when Paul pointed them out on his rooftop in Lakeland (they're also known as "tree ducks")

Austin and I saw dozens of them hanging out at Lake Parker yesterday. I can sometimes hear them flying by at dusk or even after dark - their whistling is very distinct
