WE'VE MET

Bushman was in his late teens and I was in elementary school when we met at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. He died in 1951, after spending twenty years there.
Bushman was 6'2" tall and weighed over 570 pounds - one of the largest gorillas ever in captivity.

You can see Bushman (mounted), along with Sue, the famous Tyannosaurus rex and the Tsavo Lions (these maneaters killed over 100 people in the 1890's and were immortalized in the movie, "The Ghost and the Darkness") at the Field Museum in Chicago

I guess we all met Bushman. I read "The Man-Eaters Of Tsavo" by JH Patterson (who shot the lions) just before the movie came out. The lions killed 140 people in one year before they were shot...
