My bike rims really appreciate the work the county and city employees perform on uneven paths in the nearby parks I visit frequently (haven't had to replace a bent rim yet).
The process used is called "scarifying", and it's done with rotating drums - as on the sidewalk I photographed last week - or rotating disks.
