As we celebrate Columbus Day today, I thought I'd share a couple of books from our home library on the subject of Mr. C.
Author Card's Pastwatch-The Redemption of Christopher Columbus tells a story of future historians' attempts to change history for the better, with a focal point on Columbus himself.
Michael Dorris' Morning Girl, for young readers, deals with the story of a young Taino girl in the Caribbean in the period before Columbus' landfall there (within 150 years following Columbus' voyage, the Taino people were extinct - the Spaniards had brought diseases like Smallpox to the islands).
