Ecological Collapse

If you had asked me (or probably anybody else, for that matter) about how many Koi were in our upper 160 gallon pond, I would have said  about a dozen or so - hard to tell with all the lilies and hyacinths.
Turns out, there were over three times that many fish, and - over a period of 72 hours - their aqua biosystem  completely crashed (so much for my crude filtration system).
Yesterday,I drained the pond and set up two large tubs with clean water, shade and aeration, managing to save over a dozen Koi.
Lessons learned...

You need to take the screen off and let "nature" take its course with the wading birds.
