Look, But Don't Touch

Nana spotted this Gulf Fritillary caterpillar chomping on some Passion Flower leaves on our patio yesterday afternoon, and I grabbed his picture. Later, I photographed a Gulf Fritillary working the vine. Their caterpillars feed exclusively on leaves of the Passion Flower (also called May Pop) family.
Oh, and the spikes on the caterpillar are soft. Along with the orange color, they're meant to warn off birds - and for good reason: these caterpillars are poisonous for birds to eat.
