Craftsman

My friend and neighbor, above, attaches a leather strap to his new hiking stick in my workshop a few weeks ago. I had given him two Willow Oak branches that I had been seasoning for about a year, and he is finishing a hiking stick for himself, along with one for his son. The quality of his work is a reflection of his youthful experience with a guitar maker in Mexico City, where he applied finishes to the handmade instruments.
