Running errands this week, I happened to notice the stump of a recently felled palm tree by my car in a store parking lot.
Hmmm...no growth rings on the stump - how do you tell how old the palm tree was (you know, like regular trees)?
Turns out, you really can't - any more than you can pull up a clump of grass in your yard to determine it's age (palm trees and grass are related plants).
The only way to find out how old a palm tree is??...ask a person when they planted it =:o)
.
Brownbird - fyi - we planted 4 palm trees in our yard last year - August 16th
